In 1992, Robin and her husband relocated from Seattle where she had
been teaching yoga, to raise their children in the spacious and rural
Snoqualmie Valley. Unsure of how receptive the local community would be
to yoga, she offered an Introductory level class on Wednesday nights at
The Fall City Elementary School gymnasium. The class was packed, and within
a year the demand for classes was so great, she built what is now the original
Yoga Barn on her home property, one mile east of downtown Fall City.
After five years of service up on the hill, Robin felt the calling to
expand the program to meet the needs of the growing Issaquah community,
and in 1999, the Issaquah Yoga Barn was born. Over the past ten years,
Robin has trained many wonderful teachers and enriched the lives of students
through her dedication and commitment to yoga.
The Yoga Barn's Center for Wellness
has continued to grow into a refuge for healing and transformation. Robin's
dream is being realized through the strong community connection that has been
cultivated among teachers, students and the greater network of spiritual
leaders and holistic health professionals.
Our Instructors
The Yoga Barn's reputation as the best place on the eastside to
learn and practice yoga is an honor that we attribute to our staff. Our
program director, Robin Rothenberg holds certification from AVI (American Viniyoga Institute)
and in Iyengar Yoga, and is one of the only Certified Yoga Therapists in the region.
Robin runs The Yoga Barn's Teacher Training program, and has trained most of our highly,
qualified staff.
Our instructors are dedicated and knowledgeable. They love yoga and love sharing
it with others. We encourage them to participate in ongoing training, so they can always
offer the safest, most effective yoga techniques.
Many of our instructors also hold certifications in other healing disciplines,
bringing an even greater level of understanding about the body and all its
intricacies to our practice. We have low staff turnover, which allows
you to enjoy long-term, one-on-one connections with our teachers — the way
yoga was originally intended to be experienced.
